The project ENCI-LowCarb :
Within the project ENCI-Lowcarb ambitious energy scenarios have been developed for Germany and France based only on the contributions of national stakeholders (trade unions, consumer associations, private companies etc.). 2 different tools for the modeling exercise have been used : REMIND-R developed by the project Partner PIK for Germany and IMACLIM-R developed by the project partner CIRED for France.
A transparent representation of stakeholder contributions in scenario modeling exercises allows the creation of more robust scenarios in order to support political decision-making.
The conference program at a glance :
The aim of this conference is to discuss the role of stakeholder contributions in scenario creation processes and the role of energy scenarios as tools for political decision-making.
In the first session the public consultation process for the Energy roadmap 2050 of the European commission will be presented and the role of scenarios in political decision-making will be discussed.
Within the second session the results of the project ENCI-Lowcarb will be presented : several low carbon scenarios for Germany and France and the methodology for a collaborative scenario creation process, which has been applied.
The conference will conclude with a roundtable on Scenario Creation Processes : “Transparency, diversity & harmonization - What is the role of scenarios in the political decision making process ?”
Moderation : Tim Nuthall (European Climate Foundation)
