The project team of the European project ENCI-Lowcarb presents a publication on local and regional energy scenarios.
What we need today in order to tackle climate change is a “great transition” – not only of the energy system but also of our governance structure, our system of values and our consumption patterns, and all this within the coming years, as the inertia of our current climate system is a physical reality…
An in-depth society-wide transition process has to emerge from the bottom up. Within this process local and regional energy scenarios are important tools that highlight emissions reduction potentials and the pathway leading to an achievement of these future targets.
This publication on local and regional energy scenario aims at giving a methodological and practical overview on what can, should and is happening concerning the development of infra-national energy future visions :
It includes chapters on the importance of choosing the right emission parameter, on the reduction potentials of energy sufficiency, on the concept of 100% renewable energy regions and gives practical examples like a description of the French regional citizen scenarios “Virage énergie”.
